TEC Fork Top Pre-Load Adjusters – Cartridge-type Forks

(9 customer reviews)

£79.99

These TEC fork top adjusters allow the ride height / fork spring pre-load to be adjusted and finely tuned on Triumph cartridge-type forks.

These work well with stock springs and our full front fork upgrade progressive spring kits.

Fits my 2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 and gives the preload I needed for progressive springs

These fit my 2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 and gives the preload I needed for progressive springs. They have noticeably improved the suspension performance (ride comfort and “surefootedness” in corners and under braking). I recently changed my stock fork springs to progressive springs (not actually the TEC ones). When I measured the suspension sag (how much the suspension compresses under the weight of the bike and rider) it was quite a bit more than the 30-35mm that is about right for this type of bike, so I needed to add some preload and bought these. They are reasonably easy to fit (a bit fiddly and the instructions aren’t amazingly clear, but the Haynes manual makes up for this). Measuring and setting preload is fairly easy using the widely available instructions for measuring and adjusting suspension sag. You will need a 32mm non-chamfered/flat-faced socket to prevent damaging the preload adjuster caps when you fit them (search for 32mm suspension fork socket) and obviously a torque wrench. You’ll also need a 30mm socket to remove the OEM fork caps (this can be a normal socket if you don’t mind scuffing them up a bit). I managed to fit mine without removing the handlebars (I have handlebar raisers fitted which made it easier). These preload adjusters add a minimum of 7mm preload over just the stock fork caps and have an adjustment range of 10mm; so an adjustable preload range of 7-17mm over what you get from the OEM, non-adjustable fork caps. This seems perfect, as mine are set about half way in to give 32mm of suspension sag with a 90kg rider. Preload is added by screwing in the silver plunger (one complete turn is 1mm). Remember to fit the rubber ring seal from the stock fork caps to these ones before you fit them. Fitting and adjusting preload is easier if you have a way to lift the front of the bike off the ground without compressing the suspension (I found a motorcycle lift/jack to be ideal for this).

T120 Fork Preload Adjusters

A well made item that was easy to fit. I didn't need to remove the handlebars to fit them. Only the clutch cable needed moving out of the space required to get a socket on the hex.

Fork Top Pre-Load Adjusters

sent and received without problems, although to EU, has been without tax, that is positive for me. Good and precision manufacturing product, much better than an asian equivalent.
